PromptLab vs Salesforce

When a manufacturer needs Salesforce, and when it pays for a platform it won't use

Salesforce is a platform you build a CRM on. PromptLab is a CRM built for the industrial sale — quotes, samples, price lists and meetings on one record. Here is where each one fits, including where Salesforce still wins.

Last updated 23 September 2026

The short version

Salesforce is the most complete CRM platform on the market. Manufacturing Cloud adds sales agreements and account-based forecasting, and AppExchange has a connector for almost anything. With admins and a partner, there is little it can't be made to do.

PromptLab starts where most industrial sales teams actually are: quotes, samples and price lists in spreadsheets, and customer context spread across inboxes and calls. Those objects ship out of the box, and every plan records and summarises meetings. The trade-off is depth — far fewer apps, and less room to rebuild the data model.

How we wrote this

We build PromptLab, so read this as a competitor's comparison. Every page under /compare follows the same rules: we name where the other product is better, we check competitor facts on their own pages and print the date, and we only describe PromptLab features that ship today.

Section by section

Pricing and add-ons

Sales Cloud runs from Starter Suite at $25 to Max at $550 per user a month, most tiers billed annually. Quoting and forecasting start at Pro Suite ($100). Cadences and Conversation Insights come with Sales Engagement — included in the top editions, otherwise a $50 per user add-on — and Agentforce actions are metered through Flex Credits. Manufacturing Cloud starts at $275.

PromptLab is $11.99, $23.99 or $39.99 per user a month. Recording, transcripts, AI summaries, quotes and sales orders are in the first plan.

Verdict:

PromptLab's top plan costs less than Salesforce's first tier with quoting. Salesforce's price buys platform depth, which pays off only if you use it.

The industrial sale

Manufacturing Cloud models sales agreements and run-rate, account-based forecasts — built for manufacturers selling through distributors on long volume contracts. Full CPQ lives in Revenue Cloud, a separate product.

PromptLab's objects are the ones a technical sale runs on day to day: quotes, samples, price lists, raw materials and sales orders, tied to the account and the deal.

Verdict:

Multi-year volume agreements favour Manufacturing Cloud. Quotes and samples that turn into orders favour PromptLab.

AI, agents and MCP

Agentforce is a toolkit for building agents on the Salesforce platform, billed by usage. Salesforce's hosted MCP servers, for Enterprise Edition and above, let outside assistants use org data under its sharing rules.

PromptLab puts AI in the daily loop — meeting summaries, follow-up drafts and CRM autofill — and is itself an MCP server, so Claude or ChatGPT can look up and update the CRM on any paid plan.

Verdict:

Salesforce gives more power to build agents. PromptLab includes its AI in the seat and needs no agent-building to be useful.

Setup and ownership

Salesforce is usually configured by an admin or a partner, and changing it later is a project too. That is the price of its flexibility.

PromptLab is self-serve with a 14-day trial, and syncs accounts, contacts, leads and opportunities with Salesforce both ways — so a team can run both while it decides.

Verdict:

PromptLab is built to be set up by the sales team. Salesforce rewards a company that will staff the platform.
