The short answer
ZapierPaid from $19.99/accountChoose it if you want the widest list of apps, at 9,000+.
MakePaid from $9/accountChoose it if you want the lower entry price, from $9 a month for 10,000 credits.
Choose it if your automations start and end in the CRM: deals, quotes, tasks and messages.
Zapier and Make both connect your apps so work moves between them without anyone copying data by hand. Zapier builds workflows called Zaps and counts tasks. Make builds scenarios on a visual canvas and counts credits.
Below, the two are compared on price, how each one bills, apps, triggers, AI and hosting. Every figure comes from the vendors' own pricing and product pages; prices are per account a month, billed annually, at the smallest volume each paid plan starts with, unless we say otherwise.

Pricing: $19.99 to $69 against $9 to $29
Make is cheaper at the start. Core is $9 a month for 10,000 credits, and Pro and Teams are $16 and $29 at the same volume. Zapier's Professional plan is $19.99 a month for 750 tasks, and Team is $69 for 2,000 tasks and 25 users. Both have a free plan: 1,000 credits a month on Make, 100 tasks a month on Zapier.
Neither price is fixed. Each vendor lets you pick a bigger monthly volume, and the price goes up with it. Both also have an Enterprise plan by quote. Paying yearly saves 33% on Zapier and 15% on Make's paid plans.
Tasks against credits
Zapier counts tasks. A trigger does not use a task, but every successful action step does. Filter, Formatter, Paths, Delay and Looping steps are free. When you hit your limit, Zaps move to pay-per-task billing at a higher rate, or pause if you turn that off.
Make counts credits. Most actions use 1 credit, and router and error handler modules use none. When credits run out, scenarios stop until you add more, in bundles of 1,000 or 10,000. Incoming webhooks queue up and run once scenarios resume.
Apps and integrations
Zapier is the wider of the two, with 9,000+ apps. Make connects to 3,500+ apps out of the box, and custom apps you build yourself are included on every plan. Enterprise apps and the on-prem agent are limited to Make's Enterprise plan.
On Zapier, unlimited premium apps start on Professional, and the Free plan is limited to two-step Zaps. Multi-step Zaps need a paid plan. On Make, the Free plan includes routers and filters, but only 2 active scenarios.
Webhooks, schedules and AI
Both start workflows from webhooks. On Zapier, webhooks are a Professional feature. Make includes custom webhooks that accept any data. For schedules, Zapier has Schedule by Zapier for daily or weekly runs. Make runs scenarios as often as every minute on paid plans, but only every 15 minutes on Free.
On AI, Zapier lists AI fields on Professional and sells Agents and Chatbots as separate add-ons. Make includes AI Agents (in beta), the AI Toolkit and an MCP server on every plan, including Free.
Users and hosting
Make includes unlimited users on every plan. On Zapier, Professional is one seat, Team includes 25 users, and unlimited users come with Enterprise. Team also adds shared app connections and SAML SSO.
Neither lists a self-hosted version. Make's on-prem agent, an Enterprise feature, is for reaching local networks. If you need to run the software on your own servers, neither fits.
We make PromptLab, so here is where it fits.
Or automate inside your CRM
PromptLab has workflows built in. They start on CRM events such as a new deal, a stage change, a quote status or an inbound email, WhatsApp or Telegram message, on a schedule or by hand. They create tasks, update records, assign owners and send emails or Slack, Telegram and WhatsApp messages.
Steps can run AI on the record, branch on conditions and wait. It connects to far fewer outside apps than a general automation tool, so keep one if you chain many of them. Incoming webhooks and HTTP steps come with Professional.
