Forecast Agent: predict deal close dates and revenue
The Forecast Agent assigns confidence scores to every open deal and projects quarterly revenue based on pipeline signals and historical win rates.
The Forecast Agent analyzes your entire pipeline — deal signals, stage velocity, historical win rates, and activity patterns — to predict which deals are likely to close this quarter and project your total revenue. Instead of building forecasts manually in spreadsheets, you get a continuously updated view of pipeline confidence directly in PromptLab.
The Forecast Agent is available on the Business plan ($108/month per user) and Enterprise plan. To upgrade, go to Settings > Billing > Plans.
What the Forecast Agent does
The Forecast Agent generates two core outputs for your pipeline:
- Deal confidence scores — a percentage likelihood that each deal will close by its projected close date, calculated from deal signals, recent activity, and historical data
- Projected quarterly revenue — a revenue projection for the current quarter based on weighted confidence scores across all open deals
Both outputs update automatically as deal activity changes, so your forecast reflects the current state of your pipeline at all times.
How the agent analyzes your pipeline
The Forecast Agent combines several data sources to calculate each deal's close likelihood:
- Deal signals — recency of customer engagement, email and call activity, and responsiveness from the contact
- Stage velocity — how quickly the deal is progressing compared to similar deals that closed or were lost historically
- Historical win rates — your team's actual close rates for deals at each pipeline stage, deal size range, and industry vertical
- Projected close date — how much time remains before the stated close date relative to the deal's current stage
Deals with strong engagement, healthy stage velocity, and close dates aligned to their pipeline position receive higher confidence scores. Deals with stalled activity, slipping close dates, or patterns that match historical losses receive lower scores.
Where to find forecast data
Forecast data lives in Reporting > Forecast.
- The Pipeline forecast tab shows all open deals ranked by confidence score, with projected close dates and weighted revenue contribution
- The Quarterly summary panel shows total projected revenue for the current quarter alongside your team's stated quota
- Manager view (Enterprise) shows a breakdown by rep, including each team member's forecast accuracy over time
How to interpret confidence scores
| Score range | What it means |
|---|---|
| 80–100% | High likelihood of closing — deal is active, progressing well, and close date is realistic |
| 50–79% | Moderate confidence — deal shows some risk signals or slower-than-expected progression |
| Below 50% | Low confidence — deal is stalling, engagement is low, or close date is unlikely given current activity |
A low confidence score does not mean a deal is lost — it means the deal needs attention. Use Deal Scout alongside the Forecast Agent to identify the specific signals driving a low score and take action.
How to use the Forecast Agent
Keep your pipeline data current
The Forecast Agent is only as accurate as the data it analyzes. Before reviewing your forecast, make sure deal stages, close dates, and deal values are up to date across your pipeline. Go to Pipeline and update any deals that have changed since your last review.
Navigate to Reporting > Forecast
Click Reporting in the left sidebar, then select Forecast. The page loads with your current quarter's projected revenue and a ranked list of open deals.
Review deal confidence scores and projected close dates
Scan the deal list for confidence scores below 50% or projected close dates that have slipped past the current quarter. These are the deals that need immediate attention from your team.
Use insights to focus your team
Share the forecast view with your sales manager or team in your weekly pipeline review. Use the confidence scores to prioritize which deals to push, which to escalate, and which to re-qualify. Sales managers can use the Manager view to assess individual rep pipeline health and forecast accuracy.
Run a forecast review at the start of each week. Deals that drop in confidence between reviews are early signals that something has changed — catching them early gives you time to course-correct before the quarter closes.
