PromptLab is a CRM for B2B teams that sell products, with two-way SMS built in. So the real choice is a separate texting tool beside your CRM, or one-to-one texts living inside the CRM.

Below, the two are compared on price, what each can send, and numbers and integrations. We make PromptLab, so every figure comes from SimpleTexting's own pricing and product pages and PromptLab's pricing page, and we say where SimpleTexting is stronger. Pricing: $23.20 against $11.99 to $99

SimpleTexting has one plan, priced by volume. 500 texts a month is $23.20 billed annually, or $29 billed monthly, and tiers run up to 50,000 texts and beyond. Every paid plan includes 3 users, extra teammates are $20 a month each, and a $4 one-time carrier registration fee applies. A local number is an extra $10 a month.

PromptLab has Basic at $11.99, Professional at $23.99 and Business at $99 a user, billed monthly. Texting is on Professional, so $23.99 a user buys the SMS and the whole CRM. A team that also pays for a CRM beside SimpleTexting pays for both. Both have a 14-day free trial, and neither has a free plan.

What each can send

SimpleTexting is built for sending to many people. Mass texting, auto-replies, drip campaigns, opt-in forms and unlimited text-to-join keywords are on every plan, and replies and incoming messages are free. Extra credits cost 5.5 cents each, and a picture message takes 3 credits.

PromptLab's texting is one to one. It has two-way SMS from a local US or Canadian number, in the same inbox as email, WhatsApp and Telegram, with each text on its contact. STOP opts a contact out and START opts them back in. It has no mass texts, no SMS campaigns, no other keywords and no automated texts.

Numbers and integrations

SimpleTexting offers local, toll-free or dedicated short code numbers, and additional numbers are $10 a month each. Its Mailchimp and Zapier integrations are included, and Salesforce and HubSpot connect through Zapier.

PromptLab's Professional plan includes one local US or Canadian number, and the CRM is built in, so each text is already on its contact. There is nothing to connect.

Where SimpleTexting is stronger

For anything beyond one-to-one conversations, SimpleTexting is the tool. Mass texts, drip campaigns, text-to-join keywords and auto-replies are all missing from PromptLab. It also offers short codes and toll-free numbers, opt-in forms and rollover credits.

Its price follows the texts you send rather than seats, with 3 users included, so a small team that texts in bulk pays one account fee. New customers also get a 30-day refund guarantee.

Texts beside calls and email

In PromptLab the conversation is on the contact, next to their calls and email threads, and the same number handles calls. A rep can read what was said before replying.

That fits sales follow-ups and customer questions. It doesn't fit a promotion sent to a thousand people.

Which should you choose?

Choose SimpleTexting if…

  • You send promotions or reminders to a list and need mass texting.
  • You want drip campaigns, auto-replies and text-to-join keywords.
  • You want a short code or toll-free number, with 3 users included in the price.

Choose PromptLab if…

  • You text customers one to one, next to their calls and email.
  • You want each text logged on the contact with no sync.
  • You'd rather not pay for a CRM and a texting tool separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is PromptLab a SimpleTexting alternative?

For one-to-one sales texting, yes: Professional includes two-way SMS in the CRM inbox. For mass texts, campaigns and keywords, no, because PromptLab has none of those.

Is SimpleTexting cheaper than PromptLab?

For texting alone, yes. SimpleTexting is $23.20 a month for the account at 500 texts, billed annually, plus $10 a month for a local number, and includes 3 users. Three users on PromptLab's Professional cost 3 × $23.99 = $71.97 a month billed monthly, but that price includes the CRM.

Can PromptLab replace SimpleTexting?

Only if your texting is one to one from a single US or Canadian number. If you send broadcasts or run drip campaigns, it can't.

Does SimpleTexting work with a CRM?

Through Zapier, yes: Salesforce and HubSpot connect to SimpleTexting that way. Mailchimp and Zapier integrations are included.

Is there a CRM with business texting built in?

Yes. PromptLab's Professional plan, at $23.99 a user a month, includes two-way SMS from a local US or Canadian number, alongside calls, email and WhatsApp, with a 14-day free trial.
