Sales, not admin. Cambo brought AI into its pipeline, samples and sales orders

Cambo has made LAN cable in Shenzhen for 18 years, including ODM and OEM production. It brought AI into its sales process with PromptLab, which now runs its pipeline, samples and sales orders and logs account interactions automatically, so the sales team can focus on sales.

Challenge

Cambo wanted to bring AI into its sales process and raise its team’s working efficiency. Pipeline management and manufacturing-specific work such as samples and sales orders are part of every sale, and so is recording each interaction with an account.

Solution

Work with PromptLab to run the pipeline, samples and sales orders in one system, with interactions logged to each account automatically by AI. The sales team spends its time on sales instead of admin and operations.

Results

  • Greater working efficiency in pipeline management
  • Samples and sales orders managed in the same system
  • The whole sales team focused on sales, not admin

Cambo’s story

Shenzhen Cambo Cable is based in Longgang, Shenzhen, and has manufactured LAN cable for 18 years. It has stayed focused on that one product, combining R&D, production and sales in a single company, and it takes both ODM and OEM orders.

Its range covers Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A and Cat7 network cable in unshielded and shielded constructions, patch cords, fiber cable, security and fire alarm cable, and network accessories. The company holds ISO 9001 certification, inspects at every stage from incoming materials to finished goods, and offers a five-year warranty on its cable.

Service is part of the offer. Cambo completes samples within seven days and provides online guidance around the clock, which matters to buyers who want to test a cable before committing to an order under their own brand.

That combination of focus and service has carried the company through 18 years of making network cable. Its ODM and OEM work serves buyers who sell cable under their own brand, alongside the company’s own standard ranges.

Selling cable, one detail at a time

Network cable looks simple from the outside, but every order is full of details. Category, shielding, jacket, length, packaging and often the buyer’s own branding all have to be agreed, and many buyers want a sample before they place an order.

That means a sale is more than a deal on a pipeline. Each one involves samples to send and follow, sales orders to raise and track, and a steady flow of messages with the buyer. Managing all of it well is what keeps buyers coming back.

Every detail also has to survive the journey from the sales conversation to the factory floor. A specification agreed with the buyer has to be the one that reaches production, and the sample a buyer approved has to match the order they place.

Admin between the sales

Jessica, Cambo’s Sales Director, is responsible for sales management and for optimising the company’s sales processes. Her aim was to make the team more efficient, and she saw AI as the way to do it.

In a typical sales team, much of the day goes to work that is not selling. Each email, call and message with an account has to be recorded somewhere, pipeline stages have to be kept up to date, and samples and orders have to be followed through operations. All of it matters, and none of it is the job a salesperson was hired to do.

The more of that work a team does by hand, the less time it has for buyers. For a manufacturer competing on service, that balance matters.

Cambo wanted that balance to change. The question was not whether the admin should be done, but who, or what, should be doing it.

The PromptLab moment

Cambo set out to bring AI into its sales process and chose PromptLab to do it. PromptLab is an AI-native CRM built for manufacturers and industrial suppliers, so samples, quotes and sales orders are part of the system alongside the pipeline, rather than something to build or bolt on.

The point was not AI for its own sake. It was to take the routine work off the sales team, so the people who know the buyers and the products could spend their time with them. PromptLab’s AI works inside the same records the team uses, logging interactions to accounts, summarising meetings and keeping each deal’s history current without extra typing. The collaboration improved the team’s efficiency in pipeline management and in the details specific to a manufacturer, such as samples and sales orders.

“Our goal was to bring AI into our sales process, so we decided to collaborate with PromptLab. We are happy with this collaboration: their software has greatly improved our working efficiency, not only in pipeline management but also in manufacturing-specific details such as sample and sales order management, and beyond.”

How Cambo uses PromptLab

Cambo’s sales team uses PromptLab from the first conversation with a buyer to the sales order. Three parts of the work stand out. In each of them, AI takes on part of the work, so that the people on the team can spend more of their day with buyers.

A pipeline for every buyer

Deals move through a pipeline linked to each buyer’s account, its contacts, its samples and its quotes. The stage shows where a deal stands, and the record shows the history behind it.

Because the pipeline is kept in one place, the team and its managers see the same picture. Managing the pipeline becomes a matter of reading it rather than rebuilding it from messages and files.

AI helps keep it current. Because interactions are logged automatically, the record of each deal grows as the work happens, without the team stopping to update it.

Samples and sales orders in the CRM

Samples are tracked as records of their own, with the account, product, quantity and tracking number, and a status that moves from requested through sent and delivered to evaluated. The team can see which samples are on their way and what buyers thought of them.

When a buyer is ready, the sales order is raised in PromptLab with its products, terms and payment schedule, and quotes linked to the deal carry through to it. Manufacturing-specific work is part of the same system as the pipeline.

Having both in the CRM connects the sales side of the business with the work that follows it. The team can see, on one account, what a buyer has tested, what it has ordered and what is still open.

Interactions logged automatically

PromptLab’s AI logs interactions with accounts automatically. Emails, calls and meetings are recorded on the right account without a salesperson writing them up, and meeting summaries and next steps land on the deal.

That removes a large part of the admin from every sale. The record stays complete, managers can see what is happening with each buyer, and the team spends its time on the buyers themselves.

It also means nothing is lost when work changes hands. If one person is away, a colleague can open the account and see every recent interaction, without asking anyone to forward an email or explain a conversation.

“AI features like automatically logging our interactions with accounts improved our working efficiency. Now our whole sales team is doing its job of sales, not admin, not operations. We strongly recommend PromptLab to other manufacturing companies.”

A sales team free to sell

For Cambo, the result of bringing AI into the sales process is simple to state: the whole sales team now does the job of sales, not admin and not operations. The pipeline, the samples and the sales orders are managed in one place, and the record keeps itself up to date.

After 18 years of making LAN cable, Cambo has put the same focus into how it sells. It now recommends PromptLab to other manufacturing companies looking to do the same.
