Below, the two are compared on price, calls and AI, and numbers, routing and SMS. We make PromptLab, so every figure comes from RingCentral's own pricing page and PromptLab's pricing page, and we say where RingCentral is stronger. Prices are per user a month, RingCentral billed annually and PromptLab billed monthly, unless we say otherwise.

Pricing: $20 to $25 against $11.99 to $99

RingEX has Core at $20 and Advanced at $25 a user billed annually, or $30 and $35 billed monthly. Its two AI Customer Engagement bundles are by quote, and so are teams of more than 100 users. Those prices buy the phone, SMS, meetings and messaging, but not a CRM.

PromptLab has Basic at $11.99, Professional at $23.99 and Business at $99 a user, billed monthly, and calling is on Professional. So the dialer costs $23.99 and comes with the whole CRM. A team that also pays for a CRM beside RingCentral pays for both. RingCentral has a 14-day free trial, without SMS, and PromptLab's Basic and Professional have one too. Neither has a free plan.

Calls, recording and AI

RingEX Core includes unlimited calling in the US and Canada and on-demand call recording, with automatic recording from Advanced. Its AI Assistant for Phone transcribes calls on every plan and takes notes and action items in the desktop and mobile apps. Conversational Intelligence, for AI sales insights, is an add-on from $60.

PromptLab's Professional plan records every call, transcribes it, summarises it, and puts the action items on the contact. The calls are made from the contact's record in the browser, and callers you miss can leave voicemail.

Numbers, routing and SMS

Every RingEX plan has a multi-level auto attendant and IVR, basic call queues and a dedicated number per user. Extra toll-free or local numbers are $4.99 a month each. PromptLab has no IVR or call transfer and gives one local US or Canadian number.

RingEX Core includes 25 SMS a user a month and Advanced includes 100, and automated or marketing SMS is sold separately from $0.0119 a message. PromptLab has two-way SMS from the same number as your calls, with STOP and START handled, but no mass texts.

Where RingCentral is stronger

RingCentral is a phone for the whole company, not just sellers. It has an auto attendant, IVR and call queues, which PromptLab doesn't, and adds meetings and team messaging beside the phone. It also has 330+ integrations across 200+ companies, with CRM links from Advanced at $25.

On sales calling alone, note that RingEX lists no power dialer; its contact centre product, RingCX, starts at $65 a user. PromptLab has none either, so neither suits a team that works long call lists.

Sales calls inside the CRM

In PromptLab the recording, transcript, summary and action items sit on the contact. There is no CRM integration to set up and nothing to sync.

SMS shares an inbox with email, WhatsApp and Telegram, each text on its contact. That fits sellers who call and text customers they already know.
