DocuSign is an e-signature service: it sends, signs and stores agreements. PromptLab is a CRM for B2B teams that sell products, with quotes built in. They overlap less than the title suggests. DocuSign signs documents and PromptLab doesn't; PromptLab builds quotes from price lists, and DocuSign's plans page lists no pricing tables.

Below, the two are compared on price, templates, pricing tables, e-signatures, tracking, payments, sales orders and CRM links. We make PromptLab, so every figure comes from DocuSign's own pricing and product pages and PromptLab's pricing page, and we say where DocuSign is stronger. Prices are per user a month, DocuSign billed annually and PromptLab billed monthly, unless we say otherwise.

Pricing: $10 to $40 against $11.99 to $99

DocuSign's Personal plan is $10 a month with 5 envelopes. Standard is $25 a user and Business Pro $40, with 100 envelopes per user a year on each. Enhanced plans are by quote. There is a free trial and no free plan. PromptLab runs from Basic at $11.99 to Business at $99, billed monthly, with a 14-day trial.

Billed yearly on both sides, DocuSign is $120 for Personal, $300 a user for Standard and $480 for Business Pro, and PromptLab Basic is $99 a user. The two prices buy different things: DocuSign's is the signing service, PromptLab's is the CRM with quotes included.

Making the quote

PromptLab builds quotes from your products and price lists, with a discount on each line, from Basic. The customer gets a PDF and a link they can open, and the quote runs Draft, Pending, Approved. The approved quote becomes a sales order, with its invoice, on the same deal.

DocuSign's plans page lists reusable templates on every plan, but no pricing tables, product catalogue or sales orders. You bring the document, and DocuSign sends it for signing.

Where DocuSign is stronger: signing

This is DocuSign's job, and PromptLab has no e-signatures. DocuSign has them on every plan, with real-time audit trails, notifications and reminders, and it lists real-time status updates among its features. It says its signatures are legally recognised in the United States under the ESIGN Act and state versions of UETA.

Payments during signing need DocuSign's Business Pro at $40 or an Enhanced plan, and take cards, ACH, SEPA, Apple Pay and Google Pay through gateways such as Stripe. PromptLab takes no payments and has no view tracking.

Integrations, and when a quote is enough

DocuSign lists apps for Salesforce and HubSpot among its integrations, and its pricing page cites more than 1000 partner integrations. Generating documents from Salesforce is part of its Enhanced plans.

If you only need a quote the customer can open and approve, PromptLab covers it. If every deal ends in a signed contract, you need a signing tool, and PromptLab is not one.
