Copper to PromptLab is a short move. Export People, Companies and Opportunities as CSV from Copper, import them into PromptLab, map the columns, and have every rep connect Gmail or Outlook so new email is captured from day one.

Read on for why teams make the move, the preparation, the four steps and the first week.

Why do product sales teams move from Copper?

Copper is the CRM for Google Workspace teams. It runs inside Gmail and Calendar, adds prospects from LinkedIn without switching tabs, and syncs Drive and Contacts on every plan. For a small team that lives in Gmail and wants the lightest possible CRM, it's a sound choice.

For a team that ships products, the gaps show early. Quotes need a marketplace app, and there's no sales order or sample tracking. There's no meeting recording or AI summary, workflow automation starts on Professional at $59, and Basic stops at 2,500 contacts. Gmail is the only inbox it syncs, so Outlook users are left out, and WhatsApp reaches it only through marketplace apps.

Copper's prices and limits are as we found them on 30 September 2026. See Copper CRM alternatives and the Copper vs PromptLab comparison.

Moving to PromptLab

From Copper in four steps

  1. 1Export from CopperGo to Settings → Export Data and download People, Companies and Opportunities as CSV files. For activities, ask its support team for a one-time export.
  2. 2Import into PromptLabClick Import on our Accounts, Contacts or Deals list, then upload the CSV or pick it straight from Google Drive.
  3. 3Map the columnsMatch each field to the one it corresponds to and run the import. Tasks, notes, quotes and sales orders come in the same way.
  4. 4Connect every inboxHave each rep connect Gmail or Outlook so new email is captured from day one. On Enterprise, our data migration support can help move the history across.

Step 1: export from Copper

Go to Settings → Export Data and download People, Companies and Opportunities as CSV files. For activities, ask Copper's support team for a one-time export.

Send that request on day one, since it isn't a download you control. Everything else in the move can go ahead while you wait.

Step 2: import into PromptLab

Click Import on the Accounts, Contacts or Deals list, then upload the CSV or pick it straight from Google Drive. Companies become accounts, People become contacts and Opportunities become deals.

Step 3: map the columns

Match each field to the one it corresponds to and run the import. Tasks, notes, quotes and sales orders come in the same way. Afterwards, compare the record count in each list with the rows in the matching export file.

Copper's export covers People, Companies and Opportunities, so quotes made in a marketplace app such as PandaDoc stay in that app. If you have them as PDFs or a spreadsheet, import the key figures as quotes, or attach the files to the deal as documents.

Step 4: connect every inbox

Have each rep connect Gmail or Outlook, so new email is captured from day one. PromptLab files each message on the right contact. On Enterprise, data migration support can help move the history across.

Keep your Copper account until the activities export has arrived and been imported. That file is the last piece of history to come across.

Your first week after Copper

  • Email. Check that new threads from Gmail, Outlook and any IMAP mailbox land on the right contacts.
  • LinkedIn. The Chrome extension saves LinkedIn profiles to the CRM, drafts opening messages and creates tasks. It doesn't place calls or send messages by itself.
  • Meetings. Once Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams is connected, meetings are recorded, transcribed in over 100 languages and summarised.
  • Quotes and orders. Build a price list, send a quote, and raise the sales order once it's accepted. See how to manage customer price lists.
  • Messaging. Connect WhatsApp and Telegram so buyer chats join email in one Inbox.
