What is an investor CRM template?
An investor CRM template tracks a fundraise the way a sales pipeline tracks deals: every investor is a record with their firm, the stage they are at, the check size they might write and when you last spoke. A board by stage shows who to follow up with and who is close to committing.
In PromptLab it installs as a custom object with six sample investors spread across the stages, from a partner still to contact to an angel who has signed.
What's inside
| Field | Type | Choices and details |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Text | |
| Firm | Text | |
| Stage | Status | To contact, Contacted, Meeting, Due diligence, Committed, Passed |
| Check size | Currency | USD |
| URL | ||
| Last contacted | Date | |
| Notes | Long text |
1What each investor record holds
Name, Firm, Stage, Check size, Email, LinkedIn, Last contacted and Notes. Maya Chen at Lightpath VC is at Meeting for a $500,000 check with a second partner meeting next week; Sofia Martins at Northstar Ventures is in Due diligence, running reference calls with two customers.
Last contacted is a date field, so sorting by it puts the investors you haven't spoken to in a while at the top.

2The raise on one board
Stage runs To contact, Contacted, Meeting, Due diligence, Committed and Passed, and the template adds a shared Board view grouped by it. Ravi Patel sits in Committed (the note says he signed the SAFE) and James Whitaker is in Passed, with a reminder to check back after the Series A.
Change the stage on an investor's record and the card moves to that column.

3Adapt it to your round
Add a field for the round, a target allocation, or a link to the contact record for the partner you deal with. Stage choices can be renamed and reordered after install, and an existing investor spreadsheet can be imported as a CSV or Excel file.
