How to migrate from Close to PromptLab
Export leads, contacts and opportunities from Close as CSV, import them into PromptLab, and bring tasks and call notes with you. Steps and a first-week plan.

If your Close account is small, the move to PromptLab is quick. Export leads, contacts and opportunities as CSV, import them on the matching PromptLab lists, map the columns, then add tasks and notes so your call history comes along.
This post covers who should move, what to prepare, each step, and your first week.
Why do product sales teams move from Close?
Close is a calling-first CRM with the dialer, email and SMS built in, and Chloe, its AI teammate, summarises calls and updates records on every plan. A high-volume calling team will get more from it than from us.
A product sale is different. Quotes, samples and price lists aren't part of Close, so the quote goes out from a spreadsheet the CRM never sees. Pipelines start on Essentials at $35 a seat, and workflows on Growth at $99, billed annually. There's no built-in way to save LinkedIn profiles, and the follow-up email after a call is still the rep's job.

How to prepare your Close data
Before you move from Close
Moving to PromptLab
From Close in four steps
- 1Export from CloseSearch or filter your leads, open the ⋯ menu and select Export. Choose Leads, Contacts or Opportunities and download the CSV.
- 2Select Import in PromptLabOpen the Accounts, Contacts or Deals list, select Import and upload the CSV, or pick it from Google Drive.
- 3Map the columnsMatch its fields to ours. Import tasks and notes the same way, from their own lists, so call notes and deal history come with you.
- 4Help for larger movesMoving tens of thousands of leads? Our Enterprise plan includes data migration support and a dedicated account manager. Smaller teams can test the move during the 14-day free trial.
Step 1: export from Close
Search or filter your leads, open the ⋯ menu and select Export. Choose Leads, Contacts or Opportunities and download the CSV.
Export all three, even if you mostly work on leads. Contacts and opportunities carry the detail you'll want on each account.
Step 2: select Import in PromptLab
Open the Accounts, Contacts or Deals list, select Import and upload the CSV, or pick it from Google Drive. Leads usually come in as accounts, so start there.
Step 3: map the columns
Match Close's fields to PromptLab's. Import tasks and notes the same way, from their own lists, so call notes and deal history come with you.
Call notes are where Close holds its institutional memory, so don't skip them. A rep picking up an account six months later wants to know what was promised on the last call.
Step 4: get help for larger moves
Moving tens of thousands of leads? Enterprise includes data migration support and a dedicated account manager. Smaller teams can test the move during the 14-day free trial.
How to check nothing was lost
Since Close leads usually become PromptLab accounts, start with the counts: the number of leads in Close should match the accounts you imported, minus any you chose to leave behind. Then pick a few leads from different stages and check the contacts, the opportunity value and the last few notes.
Keep your Close account for a few weeks after go-live. It's the quickest way to answer "what did we say on the last call?" while the team settles in.
What changes in your first week
- Meetings. Connect Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Each meeting gets a summary and a drafted follow-up email, so the rep reviews instead of writing from scratch.
- LinkedIn. Install the Chrome extension. One click saves a LinkedIn profile to the CRM, and it drafts an opening message you send yourself.
- Quotes. Build your first price list and quote. See how to write a sales quote.
- Samples. Log each sample request on the deal as it ships.
- Pipeline and workflows. Set stages, then add a workflow that creates a task when a quote changes status. Both are on Basic.
A note on calling: PromptLab records meetings on Zoom, Meet and Teams. Its call dialer and meeting scheduler are on Professional. If your team lives on outbound phone volume, test that carefully before you leave Close.
Frequently asked questions
How do I export my data from Close?
Filter your leads, open the ⋯ menu and select Export. Choose Leads, Contacts or Opportunities and download the CSV.
Will my call notes come across?
Yes. Import tasks and notes from their own lists so call notes and deal history come with you.
Can PromptLab replace Close's dialer?
Not on every plan. PromptLab's meeting scheduler and call dialer are on Professional at $23.99. For heavy outbound calling, Close remains the stronger pick.
Does PromptLab sync with Close?
No. A Close move runs on CSV files; PromptLab's two-way sync is for Salesforce and HubSpot.
Who should switch from Close?
Teams whose deals run through quotes, samples and meetings rather than cold-call volume, such as manufacturers and distributors.
