Salesforce Sales Cloud review

A fair Salesforce Sales Cloud review for B2B product sales: where its configurability wins, and where quotes, recording and setup cost more than they should.

REVIEW 2026Salesforce

We make PromptLab, a competing CRM, so we have a stake here. We've taken Salesforce's prices and packaging from its own pricing and product pages, and we credit it where it is stronger than we are.

The verdict: Sales Cloud is the most configurable CRM there is, and a large organisation that wants a platform to build on is well served by it. For a sales team that sells products and wants quotes and samples working this week, it is more build, and more money, than the job needs.

What Salesforce Sales Cloud does well

It can model almost any sales process. Custom objects, flows and page layouts mean a company with an unusual way of selling can have exactly that, given the time and people to build it.

The ecosystem is large. AppExchange offers an app for almost any integration, and a large partner network can build what the platform doesn't ship.

Five editions give you room to grow. Pricing runs from $25 to $550 a user a month, billed annually, so a small team can start low and a global one can buy depth. Single sign-on is available, and so is a free trial.

Agentforce brings AI to the platform. For a company standardising on one vendor, having its AI come from the same place as its CRM is a draw.

Where Salesforce falls short for B2B product sales

The platform can do it, but the features a product team needs are priced and packaged like enterprise add-ons.

  • Quotes, sales orders and price lists start on Pro Suite at $100 a user a month, billed annually.
  • Sample tracking isn't modelled. Tracking samples means a custom object that someone has to build.
  • Call recording, meeting summaries and follow-up drafts live in Sales Engagement, a separate add-on at $50 a user a month.
  • CRM autofill, MCP and the API start at $195 a user a month. Connecting Claude or ChatGPT is an upper-edition feature.
  • WhatsApp is an add-on and Telegram isn't supported. LinkedIn comes through the marketplace.
  • Setup is a project in itself. Objects, flows and layouts need configuring, often by an admin or an implementation partner, and the sales team waits.

Say a chemicals distributor has eight reps. The $25 edition has pipelines but no quotes, so the practical price is Pro Suite at $100 plus the $50 recording add-on: $1,200 a month for eight seats, with Pro Suite billed annually, before any partner fees. Eight seats on our Basic plan cost $95.92 a month. We lay out the tiers in Salesforce Sales Cloud pricing.

Salesforce pros and cons

Pros

  • The most configurable CRM there is
  • AppExchange and a large partner network
  • Five editions, from $25 to $550
  • Agentforce AI and SSO available
  • Built for large organisations on one vendor

Cons

  • Quotes, orders and price lists from $100 a user
  • No sample tracking without a custom build
  • Recording is a $50 add-on
  • Autofill and MCP from $195
  • Usually needs an admin or partner

Who Salesforce suits

  • Large organisations building a custom platform on one vendor.
  • Teams with a dedicated admin or a partner on retainer.
  • Companies that rely on AppExchange apps for their integrations.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Sales teams that want to set up their own CRM without an admin.
  • Product businesses that need samples and price lists, not a model to design.
  • Anyone who finds the per-seat add-on count hard to forecast.

You can compare options in our Salesforce alternatives list. Salesforce shops can also keep both systems running while they decide: PromptLab syncs with Salesforce in both directions, and the migration guide shows how.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Salesforce Sales Cloud cost?

Five editions run from $25 to $550 a user a month, billed annually. Quotes, price lists and orders start at $100, and CRM autofill, MCP and the API at $195.

Does Salesforce record sales calls?

Yes, through Sales Engagement, a separate add-on at $50 a user a month. Call recording, meeting summaries and follow-up drafts all sit there.

Can Salesforce track product samples?

Not out of the box. Samples aren't modelled, so a team would build a custom object to track them. PromptLab has sample tracking on every plan.

Do I need an admin to run Salesforce?

In practice, often yes. Rollout means configuring objects, flows and page layouts, and many companies use an admin or an implementation partner.

Can I run Salesforce and PromptLab together?

Yes. PromptLab syncs accounts, contacts, leads and opportunities with Salesforce both ways, so a team can work in either system while it switches.
