Salesforce and Dynamics 365 are two large-platform CRMs. Salesforce Sales Cloud is built to be shaped around almost any sales process. Dynamics 365 Sales is Microsoft's CRM, the natural CRM for a Microsoft company, and it works inside Outlook and Teams.

Below, the two are compared on price, quoting, call recording, AI and MCP, setup and add-ons. Every figure comes from the vendors' own pricing and product pages; prices are per user a month, billed annually, unless we say otherwise.

Pricing: five editions against three

Dynamics 365 Sales has three plans, from $65 to $150 a user a month. Salesforce Sales Cloud has five editions, from $25 to $550. Salesforce is the cheaper way in and the more expensive place to finish.

The headline prices don't cover the same features. Dynamics 365 puts quotes, price lists and orders on the $65 Professional plan. On Salesforce they start at the $100 Pro Suite, so a team that quotes pays $100 on one side and $65 on the other.

Quotes, price lists and orders

This is where Dynamics 365 costs less to start with. Quotes, sales orders and price lists are available from Professional at $65. Salesforce offers the same three from Pro Suite at $100.

Neither models product samples. A team that sends trial batches to customers builds a custom object in Salesforce, or goes without sample tracking in Dynamics 365.

Call recording and conversation intelligence

Dynamics 365 puts call recording, meeting summaries and follow-up drafts in the Enterprise plan, at $105 a user a month. Its dialer sits on the same plan. Professional doesn't include them.

Salesforce sells the same set as Sales Engagement, an add-on at $50 a user a month on top of the edition. Its dialer is an add-on as well. Add the $100 Pro Suite and the $50 add-on and a recording-and-quoting seat costs $150, against $105 for the same job on Dynamics 365 Enterprise.

AI, MCP and the API

Filling CRM fields from calls starts at $150 on Dynamics 365 Premium and at $195 on Salesforce. MCP follows the same pattern: Dynamics 365's Sales MCP server starts on Premium at $150, and Salesforce supports MCP from $195. Salesforce also sells its own Agentforce AI.

Two details matter if you plan to connect Claude. Dynamics 365's MCP server needs Copilot Studio admin rights and Copilot credits, and Microsoft's docs say Claude Desktop isn't supported at this time. The API is available on every Dynamics 365 plan but starts at $195 on Salesforce.

Setup, ecosystem and messaging

Both ask a lot of the people who set them up. Salesforce means objects, flows and page layouts, often with an admin or an implementation partner, though AppExchange covers almost any integration. Dynamics 365 means environments, security roles, apps, licences and Copilot credits, and many companies bring in a Microsoft partner.

On messaging they are close: WhatsApp is an add-on on both, and neither supports Telegram. For LinkedIn, Dynamics 365 sells an add-on and Salesforce relies on marketplace apps. Single sign-on and workflow automation are included on both.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dynamics 365 cheaper than Salesforce?

At the top, yes: Dynamics 365 Sales runs from $65 to $150 a user a month against $25 to $550 for Sales Cloud. At the bottom, Salesforce's $25 first edition is cheaper, but quotes, price lists and orders need its $100 Pro Suite, while Dynamics 365 has them from $65.

How do Salesforce and Dynamics 365 compare on setup?

Both need configuring. Salesforce usually means configuring objects, flows and page layouts with an admin or partner. Dynamics 365 Sales gives an admin environments, security roles, apps, licences and Copilot credits to decide, and many companies use a Microsoft partner.

Which one records sales calls?

Both, on higher tiers. Dynamics 365 includes call recording from Enterprise at $105 a user a month. Salesforce does it through Sales Engagement, a $50-a-user add-on on top of the edition.

Do Salesforce and Dynamics 365 support Claude over MCP?

Both have MCP, at the upper tiers: Dynamics 365 from Premium at $150 and Salesforce from $195 a user. Microsoft's docs say Claude Desktop isn't supported with the Dynamics 365 Sales MCP server at this time.

Is there an alternative to Salesforce and Dynamics 365 for teams that sell products?
