What is an initiatives template?

An initiatives template is a ready-made place for the work that isn't a deal: a website relaunch, an audit, a new warehouse. Each initiative is one record with a status, a priority, a start and due date, a budget and a description, and a board groups them by status so you can see at a glance what is moving and what has stalled.

In PromptLab it installs as a custom object next to your accounts and opportunities, with six sample initiatives already on the board, so it opens full rather than empty.

  1. 1Seven fields, one row per initiative

Name, Status, Priority, Start date, Due date, Budget and Description. The sample rows show the range it is built for: Website relaunch is In progress at High priority with an $18,000 budget, while EU warehouse, a 4,000 m² fit-out near Rotterdam, hasn't started and carries $240,000.

Priority is a select with Low, Medium and High, Budget is a currency field, and the two dates are real dates, so sorting by what is due next works from the first day.

  2. 2A board grouped by status

The template adds a shared Board view grouped by Status: Not started, In progress, On hold and Done. ISO 9001 audit and the website relaunch sit in In progress, Packaging redesign waits in On hold, and New CRM rollout is already Done.

Change an initiative's status on its record and it moves to that column, so the board is always the current state of the work.

  3. 3Shape it to how your team plans

Every field can be renamed, and the status and priority choices edited, after it is installed. Add the fields your planning needs, such as an owner, a link to the account the work is for, or a department select.

If the list of projects lives in a spreadsheet today, import the CSV or Excel file into the object and the rows join the sample ones. Delete the samples whenever you are ready.
